He has published in “Four Classics “: An Essay on the Greek, Roman and Christian Fathers of Early Egypt (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2000), a book on Arabic poetry, an Introduction to the Egyptian Period: Perique, Babylon and the History of Egypt (Houghton Mifflin, 1995), and two pieces on Egyptian politics, religion and education (Thawside 2012); an introduction to H. Smith’s writings, a final essay on his writing and his scholarly career, published in 2012 by the Oxford University Press. Selected essays in the following books co-written with Smith contain quotes from contemporary authors: Al Qa’ida [2003] ; Maya Vinci: A Talmudic History of Manuscript Writing Through Tomes and Tales (2001) ; The Last Generation: History and the Power of the Ancient Gods (2002) by Maya Vinci. Numerous scholarly lectures and lectures have appeared at universities such as Princeton University and Harvard University.
